How it works

A repair process designed around clarity.

You will know what has been requested, what has been approved, and what to include before your iPod goes into the mail.

01

Build a request

Choose a supported model and the repair, storage, battery, or cosmetic work you want considered. Add the symptoms and relevant repair history.

02

Review and prepay

Mike checks the request for practical fit and may ask follow-up questions or request photos. You then receive a PayPal invoice for the approved scope before mailing the iPod.

03

Pack and ship

After payment, your reply includes an order number and current shipping instructions. Pack the iPod securely and use inbound tracking and insurance appropriate to its value.

04

Inspect, service, and test

The iPod is inspected before work begins. If hidden damage materially changes the scope, work pauses until you approve a supplemental invoice or another resolution. Most repairs are targeted for completion within 5–7 business days after receipt.

05

Tracked return

The completed iPod is packaged and shipped to the address confirmed on the paid invoice. The $15 return charge includes USPS Ground Advantage tracking and up to $100 insurance; additional coverage is charged at cost.

FAQ

Before you mail an iPod

Still unsure? Send a question before submitting a repair request.

Contact Mike
Why is the builder total called an estimate?

The final fit can depend on the exact generation, internal adapter, existing damage, and parts availability. Mike reviews those details before sending an invoice.

When do I receive the shipping address?

After the request is approved and the PayPal invoice is paid. Your reply includes an MRG repair number, packing guidance, and current shipping instructions so unregistered devices do not arrive without contact information.

How do I pay?

Approved work is invoiced through PayPal before you mail the iPod. The invoice identifies the selected work, $15 return-shipping charge, and any additional insurance or applicable tax.

How long does service take?

Most approved repairs are targeted for completion within 5–7 business days after the iPod is received. Parts availability, hidden damage, or a revised authorization can extend that time.

What warranty is included?

Installed parts and the related labor are covered for 90 days. Misuse, accidents, liquid damage, later modifications, shipping damage, and unrelated failures are excluded.

Why might a firmware upgrade be added?

Standard firmware on supported 80GB and 120GB models limits upgraded storage to 128GB. Selecting a larger capacity adds a $40 version 2.0.4 upgrade unless version 2.0.4 or 2.0.5 is already installed. Unknown firmware is confirmed before invoicing.

Do you accept international repairs?

Not at launch. Service is limited to addresses in the 50 U.S. states; international, territory, and APO/FPO shipments are not currently accepted.

Should I back up the iPod first?

Yes, whenever possible. Repair and restore work can require erasing storage, and no repair service can guarantee preservation of data on a failing device.

Can I send accessories?

Send only the items requested in your approval email. Unneeded cables, cases, earbuds, and packaging are easier to lose or damage in transit.

Do you service models not shown in the builder?

Possibly. Use the contact form with the model and symptoms. The builder currently focuses on the supported Classic capacities shown there.
