Repair service terms

Last updated July 20, 2026. Please review these terms before approving an invoice or mailing an iPod.

Estimates, payment, and approval

Website totals are preliminary estimates based on the selections submitted. MRG Studio reviews each request before sending a PayPal invoice. The approved invoice must be paid before the customer receives an MRG repair number and shipping instructions. Prepaid work remains subject to physical inspection after arrival.

Device condition and additional work

Customers should disclose known damage, prior repairs, modifications, liquid exposure, intermittent problems, and missing parts. Disassembly may reveal hidden damage or incompatibility. When inspection materially changes the agreed scope or price, work pauses and MRG Studio requests approval for a supplemental invoice or another resolution. Additional work is never performed without customer approval.

Cancellations and devices that cannot be repaired

A request may be canceled before shipment and before special-order parts are purchased. After an iPod is received or special-order parts are committed, refunds may be reduced by nonreturnable parts costs, up to a $40 inspection and diagnostic charge, and return shipping. The inspection charge is not added when approved repair work proceeds. If a device cannot be repaired as approved, MRG Studio will explain the available options before returning the device or changing the scope.

Data and restoration

Customers are responsible for backing up recoverable content before shipment. Storage diagnosis, replacement, or restoration may erase the device. MRG Studio cannot guarantee preservation or recovery of data from failing, damaged, or modified storage.

Shipping and service area

Do not ship a device until payment is complete and MRG Studio provides an order number and current instructions. Customers are responsible for secure inbound packing, accurate contact information, tracking, and insurance appropriate to the device’s value. Service is limited to addresses in the 50 U.S. states; international, U.S. territory, and APO/FPO shipments are not currently accepted. The standard $15 return charge includes USPS Ground Advantage tracking and up to $100 insurance. Additional insurance is charged at cost. Returns are sent only to the address confirmed on the paid invoice.

Parts, appearance, firmware, and compatibility

Replacement parts may be new third-party, refurbished, or donor components as described in the approved scope. Minor differences in shade, finish, markings, or fit may exist. High-capacity storage and battery combinations remain subject to physical compatibility and parts availability. Supported 6th-generation models may require a paid version 2.0.4 firmware upgrade to use storage above 128GB; no firmware charge applies when version 2.0.4 or 2.0.5 is already installed. Firmware status is confirmed before invoicing when unknown. Customer-supplied parts are accepted only by prior agreement and are not covered by the parts warranty.

Turnaround, testing, and warranty

Most approved repairs are targeted for completion within 5–7 business days after receipt. Parts availability, hidden damage, or revised authorization may extend that time. Functions affected by the approved service are tested before return. Installed parts and related labor are covered for 90 days from return shipment. Damage caused by misuse, later modification, accidents, liquid, shipping, or unrelated component failure is not covered.

Unclaimed devices

Customers must remain reachable and pay approved charges promptly. Any unclaimed-device process, storage fees, and legally required notices will be communicated directly and handled according to applicable law.
